Entry for 's contest. The contest was to draw her Zelda fan character Shining Link. I guess I drew him in the middle between adult Link and young Link. He sorta looks 13 or 14 to me. I took HUGE artistic licence with his costume, but we were allowed to go wild in that department, and I'm such a sucker for redesigning Link so I couldn't resist. The only thing we had to do was keep his eyes the same as her design. He's supposed to look calm and malicious but I just ended up making him look tired. I fail in life. *flops on belly* The wonky overlapping of the characters and background was on purpose.
Here's my take on Shining Link's weapon and the story around it (note that this isn't his actual weapon, background story or description, it's just how I imagine him in my own little world I made up for him. Call it a fanfiction of a fanfiction. )
Shining Link wields the Mirror Sword, companion to the Mirror Shield. His element is Light, and second to the sun, reflected light is the brightest light in existence. The Mirror sword gathers and reflects all light and energy it encounters, giving Shining Link a supremely powerful weapon. The only weapon that can match its power is the Nova Blade wielded by Dark Link, containing the force of gravity and absorption. The Links of the Four Swords, unable to stand against Shining, must join forces with Dark Link if they hope to survive... but will Dark Link honor their truce, or will he abandon them, giving them up to destruction at the hands of Shining?
What happens when Light is so painfully bright, that it becomes more terrible than Darkness?
I like his expression, but I think that if it's malicious you were looking for, you should have turned the tip of his lips upward. Just giving the hint of a grin.
I love the cloth in his hand and how it looks like it just becomes part of the sky.
